Dr. Ann Bass

imageDr. Ann Bass received her medical degree at the University of Texas Health Science Center in San Antonio in 1993 and completed her Neurology residency training at the same institution in 1997. She has been in private practice with the Neurology Center of San Antonio since 1997 and has been Board Certified by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology since 2000. Dr. Bass has a special interest in multiple sclerosis and Parkinson’s disease. She serves on the Medical Advisory Board for the National Multiple Sclerosis Society since 1999 and has been a principle investigator in several multi-center clinical trials for the treatment of multiple sclerosis.

Along with her partners, Dr. Bass established a comprehensive office infusion center for the treatment of multiple sclerosis and other neuromuscular disorders since 2001. She also has vast experience with patient selection for and adjustment and management of deep brain stimulators for the treatment of medically-intractable Parkinson’s disease and essential tremor. She is a local and national speaker on various topics regarding multiple sclerosis, Parkinson’s disease, and Alzheimer’s disease. Dr. Bass has also been a clinical instructor, specifically for multiple sclerosis, for the neurology department at the University of Texas Health Science Center and for the family practice department at Santa Rosa Hospital.

She was awarded “Clinical Instructor of the Year” in 2000 by the American Academy of Family Physicians at Santa Rosa Hospital. Dr Bass was also named “Texas Super Doctor”  by Texas Monthly Magazine in 2006 and 2007, and was awarded “Physician Champion of the Year” in 2006 by the American Parkinson’s Disease Association. She is an active member of the American Academy of Neurology, Texas Neurological Society, Bexar County Medical Society and the Texas Medical Association.
